My 2010 Oscar Predictions

The first annual JerRay Awards, if you will....

Real quickly I just wanted to jot down what I expect will win in the Oscars this year in some of the categories. It will be fun to see how many I get right. =) Alic Baldwin and Steve Martin will host this years Oscars on Sunday, March 7th. 8/5pm.

A list of all the nominees can be found here.

Best Picture

I believe that James Cameron certainly changed movies forever, first with Titanic and now with Avatar. The way we now create 3D movies and CGI will be changed forever. I would be extremely happy if Avatar won; however, I don't think the plot is strong enough to win. So my first choice goes to....... *drumroll please*......... Inglourious Basterds.

Actor in a Leading Role

Unlike Best Picture, all other categories only have 5 nominees (or less) and I think the winner in this category is very obvious. George Clooney everyone....

Actress in a Leading Role

I'm torn here between two people I love to watch on the big screen, and one person who debuted this year and took us all by surprise. Meryl Streep, Gabourey Sidibe, and comedian-turned-actress Sandra Bullock would all be worth recipients of this years Oscar. But since they must narrow it down to only one, I will to. I'm choosing Sandra Bullock, because I absolutely loved her in The Blind Side

Actress in Supporting Role

This is the hardest so far for me to decide. I love Penelope Cruz, I loved Vera Farmiga's performance in Up in the Air, I love Anna Kendrick, and I loved Mo'Nique (already a Golden Globe and SAG award winner) in Precious. Now if the only one nominee, Maggie Gyllenhaal wins, I'm going to look stupid here. lol. I'd say it will go to Mo'Nique, with Anna Kendrick at a close second.

Animated Feature Film

Because I have no logical explanation except that it's Disney's first animated film featuring a new princess in a while. My winner: The Princess and the Frog

     Art Direcion/Cinematography

Avatar is in both of these categories. I would like to say that they will win Art Direction because I would like for Harry Potter to win in Cinematography. But there's not a doubt in my mind that they will win Cinematography, so I say Nine will win Art Direction.

Thanks for reading! That's all I feel comfortable guessing on.

What are your predictions????
